At Matthew House Ottawa we do not only request support from the members of our community but also provide support to members of the community. When you have an organization that is involved within the community not only is it a good idea to provide the supports, but to offer the supports. This is a sense of giving back, and also a receipt of being thankful for what has been provided.
HOW CAN YOU GIVE BACK?

When you become a resident at Matthew House Ottawa, you are provided for use a clean safe room with all the furnishings that are required for a bedroom. The donations that have been donated by the community are the items that assist in furnishing these bedrooms to make the transition from your homeland to Canada easy and readily available.
FURNITURE BANK OTTAWA
Through our Furniture Bank, Matthew House helps newcomers and low-income families in Ottawa make their house a home. Your donation of furniture could change lives. Located in Kanata, MHO: Furniture Bank’s long-term plans are to move to a more centralized location close to Ottawa’s core.
Moving to this area puts the organization closer to where most of its clients reside. But, compared to finance and person power, space and location are secondary concerns. Matthew House Ottawa: Furniture Banks has steadily grown over its ten years. In 2020, more than 530 homes were furnished thanks to MHO: Furniture Bank. Ultimately, they want to continue to grow. But they “need a whole lot more to keep growing.”

Matthew House Ottawa is a faith-based, volunteer-driven, charitable organization that helps Ottawa’s marginalized population to establish connected, safe, healthy, and dignified homes within our community.
We do this by:

Providing shelter, food and refugee settlement assistance, including volunteer opportunities, in a family atmosphere to refugee claimants so that they may begin their journey to independence as members in Canadian society; and,

Distributing quality used furniture and household goods to Ottawa’s marginalized population
We are very grateful for all the support we receive from our community, churches, students, volunteers, and staff. In order for Matthew House Ottawa to remain its operations we depend on the support from everyone. Thank you for supporting us in the past, present and the future.
